About
the Authors Jeffery
L. Cheney
Jeff is the second of the seven Cs, which was a nickname for the
seven Cheney sons growing up. In the past, Jeff has worked as a
heavy machinery mechanic, school teacher, and high technology manufacturing
technician.
He has been writing science fiction and fantasy stories for enjoyment for more
than twenty years. Dead Reckoning is his first attempt at publishing a
novel.
He still coaches basketball and works on cars for enjoyment whenever he can find the time.
Jeff lives with his wife and three children in a small town in
northwestern Oregon.
He is still not sure what he wants to be when he grows up.
Craig J. Cheney
Craig is the fourth Cheney son. He holds degrees in both Accounting
and Computer Engineering. He stubbornly prepares his own taxes each year
as proof that he didn't waste his time on the former.
He was a cheerleader in high school for three years (On Ye Warriors!)
and for two seasons at Oregon State University (Go Beavs!). He has worked
as a disk jockey at two radio stations, mixed and handled dangerous
chemicals, put on trade shows, organized a circus (No, not as a clown),
and currently drops whatever he is doing to solve other people's
engineering problems. He teaches a course on Shakespeare for 12- to 16-year-olds,
and currently serves as Vice-Chairman of the school board.
He has long enjoyed reading and writing in a wide variety of topics
and genres. Craig is a prolific writer of technical articles and
white papers, but much prefers the creative outlet these collaborative
books afford him. He was runner-up for the 2009 Next Mark Twain Award.
Dead Reckoning is his first published novel.
Craig lives in the Portland, Oregon area with his wife of sixteen
years and their five children.
Jared
L. Cheney
Jared is the seventh C. He has worked in Information Technology
for many years. He currently directs an Information Technology department
for a Fortune 500 company.
Jared has lived and worked in 12 states on both coasts and places
in between, as well as in Central America, the Caribbean and Canada.
He loves to travel, and has visited 36 states, several Canadian
Provinces, several Mexican States, 6 countries in Central America
and the Caribbean, and most of the UK.
The family passion did not escape him, as he has had a lifelong
love of both reading and writing. He has written consistently on
a variety of topics and in a variety of media for several years.
He is responsible for writing and editing technical and business
documentation and communications as part of his responsibilities
for his company. Dead Reckoning provided him a creative outlet and
a wonderful opportunity to work with his brothers. Dead Reckoning
is also his first published novel.
Jared, his wife and their children also live in the Portland,
Oregon area.
The authors graduated first, second, and third in their respective
classes from the same high school on the Oregon coast. All three
are Eagle Scouts, and all three volunteer their time to support
the program of the Boy Scouts of America.
All three are fluent in Spanish and can hold their own in English
(or was that the other way around?) although Craig sometimes gets
confused over the gender of such obviously masculine words as "la
mano" and "la foto".
